Ian Burgess is a Director in the lead origination team for CIT Leveraged Finance Europe, a unit of CIT Group Inc. (NYSE:CIT), a leading global commercial and consumer finance company.

Burgess joined CIT in February 2007 from HSBC Bank plc where he was a Director in the Leveraged and Acquisition Finance Team. His responsibilities included the origination, structuring and execution of acquisition financing and corporate syndicated loans predominantly in the Metals and Mining, Media, and Healthcare sectors.

Prior to this, Burgess worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein as Director in the Capital Markets Origination team. He focused on the Food Consumer Retail Sector, where he was responsible for the origination of a variety of products including: syndicated and acquisition finance; corporate sterling and Eurobonds; US Dollar private placements; convertible bonds; interest rate derivatives; securitisations and tax-structured deals.

Burgess qualified as an accountant at Ernst and Young. He holds a BEng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of England and Wales. He is also an Associate Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
