Employees Making a Difference

In local communities nationwide, CIT employees demonstrate the power of giving back and the joy of helping others. Our employees volunteer their time and talents in the community year-round and especially during our annual CIT Cares Month each June. Last year alone, our employees volunteered more than 10,000 hours on projects nationwide.

Reinvesting in the Southern California Community

CIT and its OneWest Bank division are fully committed to community development and lending across its Southern California footprint. Since 2016, CIT has invested nearly $5 billion to advance affordable housing, economic development, education and access to credit in Southern California.

Empowering Small Businesses to Launch + Grow

Empowering Small Businesses to Launch + Grow

CIT and nonprofit Operation HOPE partnered together to deliver Launch + Grow, a series of in-person workshops and classes for women small business owners in New York City and Los Angeles. By the end of 2020, the program will provide hundreds of women the tools and resources they need to cultivate their growing enterprises.

Nurturing a cleaner, greener environment

CIT works to improve environmental quality through our corporate responsibility activities and business investments. In response to deadly wildfires in California, CIT partnered with nonprofit One Tree Planted to support reforestation efforts in that state by planting 25,000 trees. Also, through our partnership with, CIT acquired greenhouse gas credits to offset the carbon associated with our air travel.

Promoting health and wellness is an investment with long-term value for communities and employees alike. Our volunteer cyclists in New York, New Jersey, and California participated in Cycle for Survival events, raising thousands of dollars for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

CIT created the Be You Diversity & Inclusion program

Culture of integrity and inclusion

CIT is committed to building a strong, inclusive culture. In 2019, CIT created the Be You Diversity & Inclusion program, which offers a range of employee resource groups that foster engagement and build a workplace where all perspectives can be heard. In addition, our newly launched Executive Diversity Council is comprised of senior leaders focused on driving inclusion throughout the company.
